Bij vloeiboren wordt het metaal niet verspaand; er wordt geen afval geproduceerd.

We boren gaten door het metaal te smelten onder hoge druk en door de toevoeging van wrijvingsenergie.

De techniek van MIG- en MAG-lassen is gelijk. Het verschil tussen MIG en MAG zit in het gebruikte beschermgas.
